In 15 days I turn 20. This first semester of the year, ProjectApp billed 78 million pesos. It's the best semester in the company's history. We're growing, we reached Mexico, we're starting to see how big this can be. I should be writing a celebration post. And I'll be honest: there is celebration, yes. But there's also something else I don't quite know how to name. A feeling that something is changing. That the time I had to make mistakes 'while still being young' is running out. That at 20, saying you're just starting isn't quite the same.
The 'Grace Period' Nobody Explains Exists
There's something that works when you're under 20 with a company: context makes everything easier to justify. If something doesn't go well, if a project fails, if a client leaves — there's always the comfort of 'he's 19, he's learning.' Nobody says that out loud but it exists. It's an invisible net that cushions the blows. And I felt it. Not as an excuse — but as space. The space to make mistakes without the world judging you by the same standard. At 20 that space starts to close. And that, even if gradual, you feel it.
